Groups Connecting to Jesus and One Another

Connecting to one another. Changing to become more like Jesus. Cultivating a heart for others.

With such a big church it can be easy to feel lost in the shuffle. Weekend Groups provide a simple way for members and new attendees alike to get connected in groups that center around the study of God’s Word.

The approach for all Apprentice class studies is an in-depth examination of Scripture and is intended for those individuals who have been Christians for a while and are beyond an introductory knowledge of the Bible.

We strive to be a "one another" class. We pray and encourage one another. We are kind and supportive to one another. We work at stimulating and provoking one another to love and good works because the day is drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Our class is generous. Financial aid is directed to a Bible College, a missionary in Mozambique, and a missionary in the Far East. There are other projects that are funded as needs are made known to the class.

Visitors are warmly welcomed, received, and encouraged to join in both study and asking questions.

We are currently studying the Book of Acts.

An all-inclusive community of believers, the Empower Class welcomes people of all ages. Our utmost goal is to become a family of loving members with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as the center. We strive to be obedient—totally transformed into the image of God, and determined to live out the demands of the Gospel in a secular world.

We tackle relevant issues in our world to be equipped to share our hope in Jesus with the lost and dying among us. A compassionate and generous class, we provide ongoing financial support to four missions groups that represent work in Africa, Japan, and Malaysia.

In addition, we partner with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, which supports international graduate students at the University of Louisville. As well as these specific missions projects, we generously commit our resources to the ministries of other local associations as needs arise.

We are always ready to welcome new members with open arms each Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. in FH 131. Please join us!

The Cornerstone Weekend Group is a collection of mostly “young” seniors, the majority of whom are couples, who meet for sound Bible teaching, fellowship, and service.

We are always looking for practical ways to apply Scripture, while sharing the Gospel with friends, serving in the community, and enjoying the fellowship of believers.

Of particular interest to the Cornerstone class is supporting Brooklawn, a home for troubled children, Youth for Christ, and various missions at home and abroad.

We’d love to meet you and assist in your connecting with Jesus and one another.

The Harmony Weekend Group is a Bible study comprised of adults aged 40 and up. The primary goal of our class is to be apprentices of our Lord Jesus Christ by studying God’s Word and applying it to our daily lives. We also are committed to following His example in prayer, unity, and compassion.

The Harmony class encourages and supports members with special needs by visits, calls, cards, emails, and letters. We love to gather for special times of fun and fellowship. At least once each quarter throughout the year we schedule a class luncheon and at the end of the year the class enjoys a gala Christmas party.

Most Harmony class members serve as active volunteers within our church as well as community organizations, contributing their time and talents and efforts. We always extend a warm welcome to visitors, encouragement to new members, and we spend time sharing, learning, and living God’s Word together.

Please take the opportunity to visit us any Sunday.

Our name, The Sunday Connection, captures our class mission statement: Connecting to one another and connecting the sermon to our daily lives.

The Sunday Connection meets from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Sundays. We gather in a circle for balanced, on-topic discussion of each week’s sermon. The class facilitators lead the discussion rather than teach.

Our class membership is mostly folks in their 50s and 60s. We are a welcoming group and we enjoy hearing from one another as we process the sermon topics together.
